Vic Firth Freestyle sticks are extra-long versions of the respective type. In this case it is a 55A stick that has an additional length of about two tips compared to the the regular version. This extra length of the Freestyle stick provides a significant amount of extra reach, but of course also a somewhat different balance.
The Vic Firth 55A gives you the best of both worlds of a 5A and a 5B stick. So if the 5A is just a little too light and the 5B just a bit too heavy, this is the ultimate choice! 55A's are made of Hickory; a hard, strong wood and therefore very suitable material for a drumstick in the broad sense and application.
