The Vic Firth 8D from the American Classic Hickory Series with teardrop tip is for those who like to play with a light 7A stick, but find that just too short. Compared to the common 5A stick, a regular 7A is considerably lighter and more agile, but also considerably shorter (about one tip length). With an 8D, you keep the "light touch" of a 7A, but the reach of a 5A.
