The Yamaha Revstar has since become a true icon with its unique design and highly diverse sound. Imagined by artists such as Chris Buck, Matteo Mancuso and Alicia Rei Kim. Revstar offers the balance between Japanese innovation and traditional craftsmanship. Modern features enhance playability, versatility and tone, while the design references classic Yamaha electric guitars dating back to 1966.
Standard
The Standard series is possibly the most popular of the Revstar line. Within the Standard series we get choices of humbuckers or P-90s and Yamaha's own pickup switching with very fat tone capabilities.
In addition to body chambering, the Standard series also includes two carbon fiber pins in the neck parallel to the trusrod, which improves neck stability and supports resonance to the body
Chambered
Revstars owe their bright sound, among other things, to their chambered body. This means that the wood the body is made of is hollowed out in specific places to make the body more resonant. In addition to this extra tone quality, the guitar is also lighter as a result.
Extra tone!
The RSS20 and RSS02 include a 5 way blade switch and a focus switch on the tone knob to create additional tone variations. The between positions 2 and 4 on the 5 way blade puts one of the pickups, depending on position, half in phase. This makes specific tones, in specifically calibrated fashion, cancel out to get an almost single coil like sound without any hum back on the signal.
The focus switch, which we turn on through a push-pull system on the tone knob, adds a high-cut and gives a slight boost in the midrange to bring lead parts forward without making your tone shrill and dreary.
