For the first time ever, DW Drums welcomes Pure Walnut to its expansive line of premium tone woods. Utilizing VLT (Vertical Low Timbre) shell technology, the drums deliver a full-bodied, musical tone with a decidedly shorter note. Pure Walnut shells are perfect for drummers seeking a unique sonic personality that's well-suited for live performance and recording. Each Pure Walnut shell is handcrafted in the California Custom Shop, treated with hand-applied finishes, and fitted with DW's innovative drum hardware, including Suspended Tom Mounts (STM), True-Hoops, and more. This kit contains an 16″x22″ bass drum, 7″x10″ and 8″x12″ mounted toms, 13″x14″ and 15″x16″ floor toms, and a 20 lug 7″x14″ snare drum.

Pure walnut shells with VLT Construction 
10" - 24" Pure Walnut drums feature a 9-Ply VLT shell and Pure Walnut snare drums feature a 12-Ply VLT shell. Bearing edges are 45-degrees on toms and 60-degrees on snares & bass drums. VLT shells incorporate plies that run vertically, rather than in the traditional horizontal configuration. The vertical grain reduces tension on a shell, allowing it to vibrate more freely for lower fundamental pitch.
