The Performance Series is handcrafted from North American maple by DW at its custom shop in California. Featuring all the characteristics of custom drums, the Performance Series incorporates HVX shell construction that produces warm and punchy low-end tones with abundant resonance and projection. This snare drum has a 10-ply shell, quarter lugs, a 45-degree back-cut bearing edge, a MAG throw-off, and TruePitch tuning screws.

North American Maple Shells
All Performance Series shells are built using DW’s patented HVX technology, which incorporates 100% maple layers with grain oriented in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns for low, punchy fundamentals.

HVX shells
are a patented shell construction technology that utilizes a combination of horizontally, vertically, and diagonally (X) oriented layers of North American Hard Rock Maple. This layering technique creates a drum shell with a low, punchy fundamental tone, ample resonance, and projection, making it versatile for both live and studio use. Different numbers of layers are used for different drums, such as 8 layers for toms and bass drums (8" toms have 7 layers) and 10 layers for snares.

Bearing Edge
HVX shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) edges. These edges provide tonality and sustain for your toms, and depth and punch for your bass and snare.

FinishesFrom FinishPly to hand-sprayed lacquer or satin oil, all DW kits can be customized with finishes to make them truly your own; for example, within the Performance Series, you can choose from 12 great colors.
