Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, and this composition makes it hard and strong. Perfect for making cymbals because it can be worked well to create a particular sound and still be strong enough to take heavy hits. This goes just as well for a snare drum!
Following the Phonic design and construction method -with exceptional precision and consistency- the 1.2mm thick Bronze Phonic shell is cast in one piece and seamlessly from a bronze alloy and gives a wood-like complex tones with a crispy mid-range. Bronze is definitely one of most musical materials within the world of metal snare drums. This 5" version of the Bronze Phonic offers the best of punch, body and funky-ness.
Ludwig knows like no other how to make a beautiful snare drum; just check out this raw bronze finish where the outer layer of bronze is patinated and then sealed. The classic look of the Imperial lugs combined with the triple flange hoops are an absolute must have!
