When you talk about Slingerland Drums, it's impossible to ignore Gene Krupa. As part of its resurgence of legendary drum brands, Slingerland is proud to introduce the exclusive Limited Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drum. Gene Krupa, often considered the world's first true drum hero, played Slingerland drums throughout his career and became the face of the brand. This special 6.5x14-inch snare drum appears in an edition of only 200 pieces and is completely inspired by the original design from that era. The shell is made of solid North American maple wood, steam bent and hand built in the Craviotto Music City Workshop. Thanks to the authentic 30-degree rounded bearing edge, the drum delivers a full, warm and deep sound. The snare features nickel-plated hardware, including the classic 3-Point Strainer for precise string mat adjustment, Nickel-over-Brass Stick Chopper hoops and beautifully engraved Radio King logos. Thus, this release combines an authentic vintage look with the distinctive sound the Radio King series is known for.

The Radio King series
The Radio King series is considered Slingerland's most iconic product line. The drums were launched in 1936-1937 and were the brand's flagship product until 1957. After a brief absence, they reappeared between 1960 and 1962. Old Radio King drums are very popular with collectors today, and top drummers such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich were also closely associated with this series. In 2025, the Radio King series is making its comeback. Carefully re-engineered in Oxnard, California, these sets consist of a full range of Radio King drum kits and snare drums that deliver a warm, classic and timeless sound.
