When talking about Slingerland Drums, it’s impossible not to mention Gene Krupa. As part of the revival of legendary drum brands, Slingerland is proud to introduce the exclusive Limited Edition Gene Krupa Radio King Snare Drum. Gene Krupa, often regarded as the world’s first true drum hero, played Slingerland drums throughout his entire career and became the face of the brand. This special 6.5x14-inch snare drum is available in a limited run of just 200 pieces and is entirely inspired by the original design from that era. The shell is crafted from solid North American maple, steam-bent and hand-built at the Craviotto Music City Workshop. Thanks to the authentic 30-degree rounded bearing edge, the drum delivers a full, warm, and deep tone. The snare features nickel-plated hardware, including the classic 3-Point Strainer for precise adjustment of the snare wires, Nickel-over-Brass Stick Chopper hoops, and beautifully engraved Radio King logos. As a result, this edition combines an authentic vintage look with the characteristic sound for which the Radio King series is known.

The Radio King Series
The Radio King series is considered Slingerland’s most iconic product line. The drums were introduced in 1936–1937 and remained the brand’s flagship product until 1957. After a brief hiatus, they reappeared between 1960 and 1962. Vintage Radio King drums are very popular among collectors today, and legendary drummers such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich were closely associated with this series. In 2025, the Radio King series is making a comeback. These sets have been carefully reengineered in Oxnard, California, and consist of a full range of Radio King drum kits and snare drums that deliver a warm, classic, and timeless sound.
