Tama’s Star Reserve collection features a trio of stunning, hand-hammered metal snare drums: brass, copper, and aluminum. These snares are hand-hammered in Japan by Tama’s finest metalworkers. Not only do these snares sound extraordinary, they’re also breathtakingly beautiful. And each one is unique!
Aluminum continues to offer a distinctive tonal character for snare drums. The metal has a low density, making it not only very light but also—despite being strong and tough—highly elastic. This typically results in a somewhat dry sound for a snare drum. This Star Reserve is just a little different, though, because thanks in part to the slightly thicker, hand-hammered shell and the slightly stiffer, brass “Sound Arc” hoop, it’s a surprisingly lively snare with a wide dynamic range and plenty of rich overtones. With a depth of 6.5", you also get a nice “thud” out of it. A beautiful snare drum that will give the connoisseur great satisfaction!
