Within the Star Reserve collection of Tama you will find a trio of beautiful, hand-hammered metal snare drums; brass, copper and aluminum. These snares are hand-hammered in Japan by Tama's best metal workers. Not only do these snares sound extraordinary, they are also breathtakingly beautiful. And, they are all unique!
Aluminum results in a very specific tonal character for snare drums. The metal has a low density and therefore it is not only very light, but also - despite being strong and tough - very elastic. Usually this results in a somewhat dry sound for a snare drum. The Star Reserve is a little bit different. Thanks to the relatively thicker, hand-hammered shell and the stiffer, brass "Sound Arc" hoop this is a surprisingly lively drum with a large dynamic range and a rich overtones. With a depth of 6.5" you'll get a nice "thud" out of it too. A beautiful snare drum that will give the connoisseur a lot of satisfaction!
