Benny Greb is definitely one of the high-profile solo drummers of our generation. And we are fans of both the man and his drumming. Even if Sonor would put a cardboard "Benny Greb" snare on the market, we would still include it in our collection!
The opposite is true, however; the sinergy between Greb and Sonor has once again resulted in beautiful, unique and impressive snare drums. Two to be exact, because in addition to the long-running beech version, the mark-2 collection has been expanded with this brass version.
Like the beech snare, this brass version measures 13x5.75". Slightly unusual (small) sizing, but don't be fooled as this is a true cannon of a snare drum! Above all; very rich in tone and very well balanced. A new feature for both Greb snares are the two internal dampers that can be independently positioned against the batter head thanks to the clever and functional monorails. This allows you to very accurately determine the degree of dryness of this snare. Hooray! Internal dampers have become usable again!
The 1.2 mm thick "vintage brass" shell has a nice rustic "burnt" look and the ultra-cool offset Sonor Vintage lugs complete the picture.
All "Made in Germany" Sonor products are handcrafted and handassembled in the Sonor workshop, the German way. Which means; no compromises, with unlimited presicion and to the highest standards possible. Every German built drum is an absolute masterpiece.
