When Ludwig introduced this snare in 1963, it was marketed as a student/practice snare due to its dry and cracking sound. Soon, however, the sound of this snare was widely embraced and it has since become one of the most widely used snares in the studio and a true icon.
Within the wide Acro collection, this Acro Aluminum is the reintroduction of the original Arcolite from the Keystone era and so, featuring the Keystone badge, twin "butterfly" lugs and P86C strainer.
The 1.6 mm thick seamless shell of this snare is made of rolled aluminum and in this 6.5" depth measurement the snare sounds not only dry but also full and fat. Standard with this new version of this Acrolite is the 10 lugs.
